A formerly incarcerated gang member who chose a different path, Robert’s leadership is defined by humility, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to guiding youth away from violence. His energy and persistence inspire both his team and system partners to humanize their work and prioritize community impact.

Biography

Robert Ontiveros, President & CEO, Community Wraparound, is an imperative leader in the credible messenger movement in San Diego, and plays the ultimate role in leading, motivating, and supporting all staff, youth, and volunteers at Community Wraparound. His catch phrase, "LET'S GO, LET'S GO!" echos everywhere he goes, and is a calling to our agency's dedication to serve our community; our tenacity to advocate for families; and our responsibility to lead by example. Robert is a formerly incarcerated gang-member who embodies the values of humility, selflessness, and honor. As a 3-stricker, Robert chose to turn his life around and pursue a pathway to mentor youth in San Diego away from gangs, drugs, and violence. "Rob Dogg" exhibits a unique formula of an energetic personality and relentless persistence that allows system-partners to sit-back, take a breath, and prioritize humanizing the work they do. Even as the CEO, you'll find him eating lunch with students in the cafeteria, visiting youth in detention centers, and cheering on the Padres at Petco Park with his own mentees and staff. Robert is a product of San Diego Unified School District, born and raised in East San Diego (City Heights), and enjoys family time.
