Biography
Colby Thornton is LLAC’s first VP of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. Colby has 17 years’ experience with client services support, including HR, and 10 years focused on DEI initiatives in nonprofits. She’s passionate about workplaces and spaces that ensure every person’s voice is heard and empowered. She’s had the great privilege to launch internship/fellowship development programs that removed obstacles for students pursuing college education. Advancing inclusive hiring systems and strategies and events that bring diverse groups together to build relationships, awareness, and knowledge gives her purpose every day. Her work is grounded in the knowledge that an inclusive culture is the bedrock of successful and highly functioning organizations.

Hello, I'm Colby! TREC is a powerful program, allowing for a debiased approach to building relationships and effectively supporting students while empowering students with evidence based tools, not just to help them succeed, but to thrive. As a DEI practitioner who is passionate about equitable and accessible pathways for underrepresented students to career paths and to leadership, a program like TREC is both an exciting and transformative part of the equation.
